Design LittleBigPlanet golf course, capture glory
In celebration of Sackboy’s jump to Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds, Media Molecule is holding a LittleBigChallenge to name the official LittleBigPlanet golf course.
The challenge is for users to get their creative juices flowing and design, create and share their vision of what a LittleBigPlanet golf course would include. Players will publish their concepts within LittleBigPlanet and Media Molecule will select nine holes from North America and nine from Europe to help make their picks.
The prize, you ask? Glory. Oh, and winners will get the ultra-rare crown item… if that’s your thing. Entries are being accepted until 3am ET on April 14. Check out the official post for detailed instructions on how to post your entry into the LBP Golf Course Challenge.

ESRB rates Ghostbusters game for PSP
Looks like the Ghostbusters are heading to PSP, if this ESRB listing is to be believed. According to the ratings bureau, the PSP will receive its own version of Ghostbusters, based on the PS2 and Wii versions of the game. The game has been announced for pretty much every platform including the DS and iPhone, so it’s unsurprising that Atari would want to make a quick buck by releasing a PSP port as well.
[Thanks, David B.!]

Rock Band Unplugged box art reveals partial track list
GameStop has revealed box art for the upcoming PSP-exclusive Rock Band Unplugged. The Frequency-in-disguise game will feature “over 40 original master recordings” in a World Tour mode that spans over 24 cities and venues. The box confirms support for DLC through an in-game music store and also reveals there will be no multiplayer options, Infrastructure or Ad-Hoc.
Many of the songs listed on the box can be found in the console versions of Rock Band, but there are a few notable new tracks. Will these tracks be exclusive to the PSP version, or is this a hint at future Rock Band content?

Mytran Wars intro takes a page from C&C
Deep Silver’s long-delayed turn-based strategy effort for PSP is finally coming … we think. The company released the intro to the upcoming game, and the live action sequence reminds us a lot of the classic Command & Conquer cinematics. This three minute clip emphasizes the importance of resources in the game and sets up the conflict with — you guessed it — giant robots.

Madden NFL 10 tackles retail on August 14th

It’s another year, it’s another Madden. The best only NFL game in town will make its return this year on August 14th, promising “all-new animation technology.” The Madden line follows EA’s newfound love for Nintendo, as the Wii version gets special attention this year with a “unique, genre-defining art style” that “epitomizes what fun looks like on the Wii.” Cel-shaded Madden, perhaps?
We don’t know much more about this year’s iteration of the Madden series, except for details garnered from the game’s only screenshot. The infamous cover athlete is also currently unknown and will be revealed later this year on April 24th.
Madden NFL10 will be available on Xbox 360, PS2, PS3, PSP and Wii. Update: Big Download has confirmed that no PC version is in the works. “We have no plans to release Madden NFL 10 on the PC this year.”

Analysts: PS2 sales to increase 30% after price drop, others question effect on software
Analyst Jesse Divnich of EEDAR believes that the PS2 price drop to a Franklin will boost US sales of the console by 30 percent. Divnich’s report also estimates that PS2 software will maintain an 18 percent market share, rather than drop down to 16 percent had there not been a cut.
Gamasutra also spoke with analyst Matt Matthews, who points out that any consumer waiting for the PS2 to reach $100 is “cost-conscious” enough to buy games from the used bin at GameStop, meaning those consumers aren’t likely to help new software sales. Apparently, Sony’s Jack Tretton agreed with this notion last summer in an Edge interview, when he asked, “If that $30 was the difference between buying a console and not buying a console, how many games are you going to sell to that person?”
At the time, he questioned how strategically important that consumer really is. Apparently, nine months and a fiscal crisis at the company is enough to change some minds.
