We really aren’t going to get into a semantic discussion about Borderlandsnew art style, so feel free to call it cel-shaded or illustrative, it’s all marketing-speak bullet-points to us at this stage. Thing is, the game looks totally different than it did back in the day.

We’re just curious to see what Borderlands looks like in action now, and we’ll hopefully have that chance at E3, commencing in just a little over a month. Check out the gallery below for new images (for the internets, at least), and be sure to click the hi-res button in the gallery to embiggen.

Breaking through the fire and the flames to bring you this week’s Guitar Hero: Smash Hits track list update, the game’s publisher, Activision, likely embraced the coolness of some nearby raining blood before continuing on. But the company didn’t stop, not even to lay down for a moment, as it knew that in order for you fine folks to rock and roll all night, it must persist in its journey.

And so, as Activision managed to miss murder once again and bring us a short list of tracks to be included in GH: Smash Hits — this week from Guitar Hero III — we’re starting a cult of personality around the publisher. Barracudas be damned, we say! Try and hit us with your best shot! Fire away!

Or, ya know, check out the three new screens in the gallery below and the full list of tracks after the break. But you already know them, don’t you?

We realize that the hardcore Killzone 2 fans among you are probably too busy enjoying the “Steel and Titanium” map pack to do any internetting right now, but if you haven’t checked out the shooter’s official site recently, you should really point your browser in that direction.

The Killzone Command Center recently underwent a huge revamp, adding in a number of oft-requested features. Chief among these additions is the ability to upload and view battle replays, though the non-cinematically inclined have plenty to check out as well — for instance, the site’s improved tournament tracking page and live updates of featured matches are well worth a gander. Said gandering can be performed by clicking this here link.

Patapon producer ‘listening to’ requests for PS3 version, more sequels

Patapon 2 is finally coming to the PSP in North America. While associate producer Chris Hinojosa-Miranda couldn’t precisely explain why the title has taken so long to reach its final destination, he did say that the added time provided more focus on localization and translation. (Even still, we manged to spot a few lingering instances of “Engrish.”)

Hinojosa-Miranda told us that the development team continues to get requests for a downloadable PS3 version of Patapon that features online modes, which he says the studio is “listening to.” The team is also looking at licensing out more of those popular Patapon plush dolls (in case you missed the first batch). Will there be a Patapon 3? “There’s such a critical love for Patapon, the characters, the story overall, and the music especially … there’s a good chance that the franchise will continue,” Hinojosa-Miranda suspects.

Expect our Patapon 2 review shortly.

Diet Weight Loss

April 30, 2009 by admin · Comment

Weight loss, in the context of medicine or health, is a reduction of the total body weight, which can mean loss of fluid, muscle, bone mass, or fat. The loss of weight associated with a chronic illness is referred to as cachexia. Unexpected, unintentional weight loss is a common symptom of illness and should be evaluated by a healthcare professional. Poor management of Type 1 diabetes mellitus (IDDM) can be a cause of significant weight loss. Lack of insulin triggers the release of fatty acids into blood from adipose tissue, as well as the release of protein from muscle tissue. This causes a reduction in both lean tissue and fatty tissue mass. Also of interest is to consider the weight loss as a product of the energy imbalance, because much biochemical energy is lost in the urine due to the excretion of glucose (glycosuria) and ketone bodies.

Medications, lack of fluid intake, or illnesses such as diabetes can trigger fluid loss.

Infections such as HIV may alter metabolism, leading to weight loss.

Hormonal disruptions, such as an overactive thyroid (hyperthyroidism) , may also exhibit as weight loss.

Weight loss may refer to the loss of total body mass in an effort to improve fitness, health, and/or appearance.

Therapeutic weight loss, in individuals who are overweight, can decrease the likelihood of developing diseases such as diabetes. Overweight and obese individuals face a greater risk of health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, and osteoarthritis. For healthy weight loss, a physician should be consulted to develop a weight loss plan that is tailored to the individual.

Weight loss occurs when an individual is in a state of negative energy balance. When the human body is spending more energy in work and heat than it is gaining from food or other nutritional supplements, it will catabolize stored reserves of fat or muscle.

It is not uncommon for people who are already at a medically healthy weight to intentionally lose weight. In some cases it is with the goal of improving athletic performance or to meet weight classifications in a sport. In other cases, the goal is to attain a more attractively shaped body. Being underweight is associated with health risks. Health problems can include fighting off infection, osteoporosis, decreased muscle strength, trouble regulating body temperature and even increased risk of death.
