Bleach: Heat the Soul 6 Review
Those of you interested in this game will already know what it’s about. Those of you who don’t, it’s a 2D (with 3D character models) fighter on a 3D plane based off of one of the hottest animes currently being read and watched. Also, this is the 6th game to be released for the PSP. This first one has yet to be released in the states; however, all PSP games are region free and it’s easy to import titles. I do it all the time (30+ Japanese PS2 games with a white Japanese PS2, 2 Japanese PS3 games, 4 Japanese PSP games and 3 Korean PSP games).
Graphics
The character details, designs and backgrounds in this game are superb, especially considering that this is on the PSP. The background adds depth to the 3-dimensional plane that you fight on and all of the attacks look very crisp.
- 18/20
Sound
The music, voiceovers and sound FX in this game are great. Everything sounds just like the anime on TV.
- 18/20
Story
The story follows Ichigo Kurosaki and company as they fight Aizen and the hollows. For more info on the story of the show/manga, check Wikipedia (Long story – but you don’t need to know it to enjoy the game). The story follows the manga with the two movies are thrown in.
- 18/20
Gameplay
The characters have been tweaked and balanced again; however, there are a few that are just plain stronger than others. The flow of combat is very fluid for a PSP game. The movesets, although awesome, are somewhat limited. There are various modes to keep you entertained including, Story, Arcade, VS and Soul Championship.
- 17/20
Replayability
Along with the various modes to keep you entertained, you have 56 total characters to master and 29 environments to fight in.
- 19/20
Conclusion
Bleach: Heat the Soul 6 is a very fun, well-paced game that is only available for the PSP in Japan. We will definitely see a 7th and probably 8th or even higher game in the coming years. Don’t hesitate, pick this game up now!
Final Score
- 90/100

THQ will Entertain You
Here is a quick roundup of games from THQ this Holiday season. Keep in mind, you want to trust the ratings on games today. T = Teen, M = Mature, E = Everyone. My five-year old had the opportunity to see a scene from a T = Teen game the other day, and he was full of questions. Here we go …
Saints Row 2
Unfamiliar gangs have laid claim to your territory, rival factions have taken over your rackets, and cash-hungry corporations have laid waste to your home. What are you going to do about it? Well, you know what you have to do.
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3
WWE Smack Down vs. RAW 2009
This in the ring wrestling game is real, not fake like you might assume. Go ahead and control your favorite WWE wrestler and put the smack-down on the enemy.
Platforms: Xbox 360 PS3, PS2, PSP, Wii, DS, Wireless
WALL – E The Video Game
Disney always does a great job on their animation projects. THQ brings the WALL – E Storyline to the video game so you can enjoy the little robot in a whole new way. This fast paced adventure is great fun for even those who want to just watch you play.
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, PS2, PC/MAC, DS, PSP, Wireless
de Blob
A mischievous and unlikely hero, only de Blob can flip, bounce and smash his way past the all-powerful I.N.K.T Coproation to launch a revolution and save Chroma City from a future without color.
Platforms: Wii
DEADLY Creatures
Need I say more. This third person action thriller will make you think twice about killing that spider in the corner of your bedroom.
Platforms: Wii
Destroy All Humans – Path of the Furon
We should protect all humans. Even President Reagan said we would unite as one if extraterrestrial beings invaded earth. Do you think he knew something? THQ might.
Platforms: Xbox 360, PS3
BAJA
Who wouldn’t enjoy an ultimate off-road racing experience? The realistic graphics, and responsive control of this game will quite possibly have you driving through yards on the way to work. I like the fact that you can customize your ride with over 200 parts.
